The Northern Trust stop smoking service is offering free Smoking Cessation Brief Intervention training to all staff/volunteers working with the public. This session has been developed to equip staff with enough background knowledge to be able to provide approximately 2-3 minutes of brief advice to any smoker on the risks of smoking, benefits of giving up, ways of quitting and how to refer on to specialist services.

The Northern Trust stop smoking service is offering free Smoking Cessation Brief Intervention training to all staff/volunteers working with the public. Issues Covered

  • Background statistics on smoking
  • Health risks of smoking
  • Benefits of quitting
  • Smoking Cessation – means and aids including e-cigarettes
  • How to refer to stop smoking services
  • New policies and legislation

Brief intervention training usually takes an hour but can be done in less time (20-30 minutes) to tag onto the end of a team meeting or other staff training. A certificate of completion is provided.
