North West Migrant Forum intend to establish a new refreshed and energized diversity club as part of their Communities United, Promoting Inclusion and Diversity (CUPID) Project. The club is intended to promote intercultural communication to tackle hate crimes and racism in the North-West area of Northern Ireland.
The club will also have a significant role to play in advising and supporting the project team on the implementation of its CUPID project. The intention is that members of the diversity club will support the development and delivery of already existing projects within CUPID and reach out to people and communities living in the North West.
Membership will comprise of 15 volunteers from a diverse group of people of minority ethnic backgrounds and people from the two major communities. Membership of the diversity club will carry with it significant responsibility.
Members will be expected to actively engage with people and communities across the north-West area and help break down stereotypes, tackle racism and prejudice through encouraging socialization and recreation to reinforce self-confidence and offer information on diversity issues which can be useful to organisations, schools and community groups in dealing with and responding to the needs of the communities they serve.
