Carers Trust

Carers Trust is a major new charity for, with and about carers, combining the knowledge, skills, expertise and experience of its founder charities –The Princess Royal Trust for Carers and Crossroads Care – and all of its Network Partners.

Carers Trust has been operational since 1 April 2012 and now in partnership with 13 other leading organisations has recently launched a 3 year Big Lottery funded Mind the Gap project in Northern Ireland.

With Carers Trust as the lead partner, Mind the Gap aims to assist 1500 carers (aged 60+) in Northern Ireland to have improved quality of life through better access to advice on benefits and services

The programme will work, through existing service provision channels, and by identifying gaps in services to support carers address issues around:

  • physical and mental health
  • social isolation
  • respite
  • support in their caring role, enabling them to ‘care with confidence’

The Mind the Gap project is managed by Northern Ireland Development Manager, Sean Caughey with a part time Carers Outreach Support Worker based in each Health Trust area.
