STEP is a rights-based community development and training organisation based in Dungannon. It has served the local community since 1997 offering advice and guidance, mentoring of groups and associations, individual and group training and community projects. Its pioneering work in the field of Migrant Worker Support has developed its work to regional level and through grassroots nature of work has been able to identify needs and contribute to policy development. The organisational ethos is empowerment particularly those most at risk in the community with its project work and services determined by the current needs of the community.
Our work includes Specialist Support Advice Services (e.g. housing, welfare, immigration, employment, debt advice), Training, Interpreting & Translation Services, Community Development Project Activity, Mentoring & Supporting Groups and Individuals and Programme Management. STEP has offices in Dungannon, Coalisland, Cookstown and Magherafelt with other project work and services available across Northern Ireland. STEP is an organic organisation growing to meet the needs of the people within its remit and does this through a mixed economy approach by funding opportunities and income generation through its Social Economy arm, STL.
