The role of the Commissioner is to champion the rights of older people and ensure government considers the long-term needs of our ageing population.

The Corporate Plan 2025-2029 is built around three priorities that reflect what older people told the Commissioner matters most, alongside the challenges and opportunities of an ageing population.

  1. Advocate for change to support people to age well
  2. Empower older people  to have choice and control in their lives
  3. Change how we all think, feel and act towards older people and aging
