ESOL NI – Updates from English learning sector – 1 May 2024

Please see below promotional banner and QR Code for registration to the Belfast Met & Red Cross information session on the Assessment and Enrolment for New ESOL learners – 24-25 academic year.

This is not a call for registration to assessments yet, it is only an information session to provide guidance towards the upcoming process of registration in August 2024.

This information session is open to potential Belfast Met students who are NOT enrolled with ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses at the college, or who are currently on the waiting list to be called for courses.

When: Thursday – 2nd May 2024

What time: See schedule for sessions below – make sure learners are guided to come to the correct session matching your language requirements.
Where: Belfast Metropolitan College – Titanic Campus – Lecture Theatre – 7 Queens Road, Titanic Quarter Campus, Belfast BT3 9DT
Parking and Transport guidance to the venue:
The underground car park at TQ is about £2 an hour and can be paid through the Your Parking app (location code 11170) or by card only at the machines.
There is a Your Parking car park behind the college with a daily rate of £3.50 (location code 3393).
The Glider G2 is the best bus option or TQ train station.

It will provide information on the upcoming ESOL registration and application process for the 2024-2025 academic year, assessment and enrolment guidance and alternative English language courses available in the community across Northern Ireland. It will also provide space for questions and answers from attendees.
Interpreters will be available for language support on the day covering the following languages:
Arabic/Farsi/Ukrainian/Somali and Tigrinya

Sessions are to be delivered per language requirement following the schedule below:

–          Session 1: 9.30am to 10am – Arabic language

–          Session 2: 10.15am to 10:45am – Arabic language

–          Session 3: 11am to 11:30am – Somali language

–          Session 4: 11:45am to 12:15pm – Farsi /Persian language

–          Session 5: 12.30pm to 1pm – Tigrinya language

–          Session 6: 1.15pm to 1:45pm – Ukrainian language

Free tea & coffee and light refreshments will be available to participants.
