The introduction of Universal Credit (UC) represents a fundamental change to the benefits system and has brought many changes and challenges for claimants and advisers alike. With the ongoing rollout in NI being  followed by the migration of clients from legacy benefits to Universal Credit advisers need to be capable of guiding clients through the benefits maze and its impact on  the ‘legacy benefits’ system. 

The course will cover:

·         Aims and principles of universal credit

·         Who can claim;

·         How UC is calculated and paid;

·         Conditionality & possible sanctions associated with UC

 Who is this course suitable for?

This course is suitable for individuals and organisations working with people impacted by Welfare Reform and who need to know the basics of Universal Credit.
