To ensure public bodies have reliable data for tracking inequalities, shaping policies, and planning services, the Racial Equality Strategy 2015-2025 committed to exploring ethnic monitoring and consulting on its implementation.
A cross-departmental working group, led by The Executive Office’s Racial Equality Legislation Team, was set up to drive this effort. Working with the Statistics & Research Branch and the racial equality sector, the group developed guidance for ethnic equality monitoring in public services.
