Northern Ireland’s first Minority Ethnic Parliament

The Minority Ethnic Parliament (MEP) is an initiative to further connect BME communities to political institutions and processes, to increase participation, and to build on work already done by local communities.

In 2013 three regional ‘Questions that Matter’ events connected BME communities with local politicians on issues that are important to them. NICEM have been working on highlighting those issues throughout the year, and this initiative is designed to take some of the key issues arising from the regions at those and other events and further push politicians to make changes.

Participation from BME community members will require of attendance at one of three thematic regional workshops in February-March 2014, and the final Parliament on 29 April 2014.  An optional preparatory Study Visit has been organized at Stormont during January (21st/25th).
