On Your Side (OYS) is a new, UK-wide support and reporting service for anyone in the UK who identifies as East and Southeast Asian who has experienced racism or any forms of hate. On Your Side – ESEA Hate Crime and Incident Reporting – On Your Side (onyoursideuk.org)

OYS have materials that can be shared upon request. Please refer to the Flyer in ENGLISH and Flyer in CANTONESE. These are also available in: Burmese, Indonesian, Japanese, Khmer, Korean, Lao, Malay, Mandarin, Thai, and Vietnamese.

On Your Side can offer training, presentations, and advice through:

Hate crime workshop for professionals: a 3-hour online or in-person workshop designed for those who work with those at risk of being subjected to hate crime. The content is designed to help participants to be able to have informed discussions with community members about hate crime and the reporting and support options available to them if they experience hate crime. At the end of the training participants will feel more equipped to offer initial basic support and signposting to victims of hate crime, as well as more able to raise awareness of hate crime among the communities they work with.

Hate Crime workshop for ESEA community members: a one-hour online or in-person session helping ESEA community members to understand hate crime and what reporting and support options are available to them. The workshop is designed to break down barriers to reporting or seeking support such as not believing an incident is serious enough and not knowing what options are available.

A talk on hate faced by ESEA communities: This talk shares information and insights from our research into hate crime faced by ESEA communities and data that has been collected by On Your Side. The talk covers data on the level and type of hate crime faced by ESEA communities in the UK, the impacts of that crime, the levels of reporting, and why many community members feel unable to report or access support. The talk also covers the particular concerns of Hongkong BN(O) community members such as political intimidation.
Referrals to OYS: On Your Side has a team of Caseworkers able to support ESEA community members who have experienced discrimination or hate. Services supporting ESEA community members who need casework support are able to refer those individual to On Your Side through our website here: https://www.onyoursideuk.org/contact-us/. OYs would be happy to talk to any organisation in more detail and advise how individuals can be referred to the service.

Physical Materials: We can send physical promotional materials about OYS to local authorities, organisations and businesses. Materials include business cards, flyers, and leaflets in English and some ESEA languages (CLICK ON THE CHOSEN LANGUAGE BELOW):
