Unpaid carers provide devoted care to loved ones who are disabled, have been diagnosed with an illness or long-term condition, or those who are needing extra support as they grow older. Whilst an unpaid caring role can be extremely rewarding, it can also have a negative impact on the carer’s own physical and mental health, financial security and ability to stay in work. Carer’s NI provide support and advocates on behalf of unpaid carers, raising awareness about the impact that unpaid caring can have on a person’s life and campaigning for change that could improve the lives of all unpaid carers living in Northern Ireland.
