Our charity aims to improve the wellbeing, confidence and quality of life of Polish women living in Northern Ireland by fostering friendship, mutual support and community engagement. It promotes positive mental and physical health, encourages social inclusion, and helps women develop personal, practical and professional skills through training, workshops and shared activities.
The charity supports women to become more active and independent within their families, communities and workplaces, while encouraging participation in civic and voluntary life. It also celebrates Polish heritage and promotes understanding and good relations between Polish and local communities through cultural exchange and collaboration.
In addition, the charity provides information, guidance and practical support to Polish women and their families experiencing loneliness, poor mental health, domestic abuse or other personal difficulties. Through advocacy, signposting and tailored assistance, it helps individuals access support, build resilience, overcome barriers linked to language, disability, age and social isolation, and participate fully in community life.
The charity delivers a programme of regular social, cultural and educational activities that encourage participation, connection and wellbeing. These include monthly Women’s Circle support meetings, the Polish Library and “At a Badger’s” Book Club, workshops and training sessions, as well as family-friendly community events such as the Kupala (Midsummer) Night picnic and Christmas gingerbread-making celebrations. These activities help reduce social isolation, strengthen community ties, celebrate Polish heritage and promote positive mental wellbeing.
