Mid Ulster District Council, in partnership with the Education Authority Youth Service, is delighted to inform you, that we are currently recruiting for the Mid Ulster Youth Voice.
We are aiming to recruit 24 young people, resident in Mid Ulster district council area, aged between 16 – 21 years to be members of the Youth Voice for the next 2 years.
It is very important to ensure young people from your school are represented. These youth representatives will to be able to provide a strong voice to Councillors, and the District Council, by presenting key issues affecting young people in the area (such as local Covid restrictions.). The Youth Voice members will be able to consult, represent and advocate on behalf of other young people.
The Youth Voice members will receive training, residential opportunities and will attend some District Council meetings and events. They will be supported to undertake social action projects, plan youth conferences and will have many more opportunities for social and personal development. However, this is planned very well in advance so that it does not impact their studies or training.
Speaking about the new project, Chair of the Council, Councillor Paul McLean said, “Initiatives like Mid Ulster Youth Voice empower our young people to become active citizens and give them the opportunity to create positive change. Young people aged 16 – 21 years are the decision makers of the future, but they also play a key role in giving feedback and suggestions on decisions that are being made now. Hearing from them on issues that matter means we can together build a better future for and with our young people.”
The recruitment deadline is 17th January 2022. Attached is an updated flyer and poster advertising this. Young People can apply by visiting www.midulstercouncil.org/youthvoice

We would be very keen to ensure young people from your school have the opportunity to be represented.
